I do like this one better - the colours are brighter - I think the first one looked a bit dull. Though I don't know whether that's to do with different lighting?
No, definitely prefer the first. The focal point here is wrong, too central, it needs to be slightly forward. But I could put a bit more light into the first one nd that may help.
I still think you need to have some blurring at the front.
I read somewhere that if you draw lines across a photo at 1/3 and 2/3 across, and 1/3 and 2/3 down, where the lines cross are good focal points - so not right in the middle. So you might be right.
I was hoping to add before your read my comment - this of course does not mean you are not entitled to your own opinion. I am just gd that you like one of my photos enough to comment.
The rule of thirds is why I like the first picture better, but it really does come down to personal preference
