Eternity

After every star
Has burnt its last
Every glacier
Melted clear
Every mountain
Blown to dust
Every jungle
A desert turned

I still will miss
Your touch
Your scent
Your whispered breath.

Only seas remaining
Filled with salt
Every drop
Flowed from my heart.

We could craft this thing between us
Make stars of brightness
Rivers
Mountains
Forge in solidity
Unbreakable from outside

Or we can twist it
Bend beyond recognition
Till it drips
Between

Never lie cheat or steal
If you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love
If you must cheat, then cheat death
If you must steal, steal away from bad company.

Lost Journey

This train
Could be going
Anywhere
I'm past caring
And as my eyes close
I drift away
I remember your lips
Pressed to mine
How your presence
Overwhelmed my senses
A moment
Turned to eternity
Eternity
Lost in a moment
Never to open my eyes again
Never to reach my station

Bruised

I'll carry the bruises
The mental scars
I'll hold them high
Bear them proud
At least I know
Deep deep down
You cared enough
To hurt me.

Crying

What can I say
To take the pain
To dissolve it
Like salt in water
Until only
A few
Tears remain.

Lost

If I can't
Make you,
Can't open your eyes,
To see the me
Waving, shouting, screaming
From deep within

I'll open
My skin

Sharp

Scalpel

Slice

Finding a path
Through multitudinous scars

One more wave
As I lie
Drowning
In crimson waves

If I could harness
The lightning
From a thousand storms
I'd use them
To light your way
With giant
Disco balls

Fantasy?

You say you don't believe,
Don't believe in unicorns,
In the pot of gold
At the end of the rainbow.
You've never seen
A dragon in flight,
Or a choir of elves
Singing to the skies.

But within me
The dragon lives,
In my soul, giving fire,
My ears hear song
That lifts me high,
I found the gold
(and lost it, I know),
And one day,
One heart stopping day,
I will see
The unicorn
In front of me.

I'll wrap it up tight
With chains and locks
To hold it
And bury it
Deep
Where, no longer
It tears me
Not wanting to lose
Unable to embrace
For now
I need to place it
Away
And maybe
Just maybe
One day
I will look again
And, no more
Feel the pain

Happy memories

Walls

Looking for my castle
Somewhere to hide to
Somewhere to hold to
With the gates closed
To protect me

Without you here
To let the light in
I will let the dust
Gather round me
Watch armour
Turn to rust
Water stagnate
Curtains fall
From rotten wood

But the walls
Will keep me
Safe

A moment
Within a grasp of heaven

About snatching
A glimpse of ecstasy
Of leaving the world
To fend

Switch off the pager
Ignore the email
And for a time

Reduce it all
To a pleasure

This definitive, unmistakeable, now
Where all my pasts have lead
From where my futures
Draw away

Wishing

Burning Bright

Every evening
I light this lamp
In the hope
You'll see this beacon
Return
To this empty home
And make it
Whole again.
Every morning
I awake
Alone.

Heat

I want to walk
In the pouring rain
Not caring
That my clothes are soaked,
To stand
On the highest places
And shout with freedom,
To see
The glistening colour
Of your eyes
Knowing
That the look
Will be followed
By intensity,
And
Most of all
To live
Filled with passion.
